I’m a tech facilitator, math and TOK teacher at the International School of Islamabad. I’ve been a tech facilitator since 2007. Before that I was an AP/IB science and math teacher. I started teaching in 1994 and went overseas in 1999. I love my job and learning. I grew up in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada and return there each summer to visit friends and family. I loved working as a beekeeper during my college years and return to it when I can.

Effective teaching and learning requires an understanding of and passion for learning.  Whether it’s reading the latest educational research, improving my communication skills in another language, finding out new ways to integrate technology and service learning effectively, or trying to learn something completely new, I am always learning. I use research-based approaches to support learning for students, colleagues and myself. My priority, whether as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, or instructional coach is to create an empathetic learning environment where everyone feels comfortable to make mistakes, to take intellectual risks, and to actively shape and enjoy their own learning.
